Hi Dana, just circling back on the quote I sent on the 5th. Happy to answer questions or adjust the scope if the timing or budget has shifted. If now isn't right, no problem — a quick "not yet" is completely fine, and I'll check back in the new year.

The paperwork of being a person. Forms, official letters, complaints, cancellations.
It is a request for your 2024 income statement, not a fine. You need to send the statement through their online portal by 18 October. If you miss the date there is a reminder with a small surcharge, so it is worth doing this week. Want a checklist of what to gather?
Dear Sir or Madam, I hereby cancel my membership, number 88341, effective 31 March, the end of my current contract term. Please confirm the cancellation and the end date in writing within 14 days. I will not authorise further direct debits after that date. Yours faithfully, [your name]. Send it by registered post and keep the receipt.
Under EU Regulation 1371/2007, a delay over 120 minutes entitles the passenger to 50% of the ticket price. Your rejection cites "extraordinary circumstances" but the stated cause — a signalling fault — is within the operator's control under the Regulation's case law. I am re-submitting claim 4471 with the ticket and delay confirmation attached. I expect payment within 30 days.

Base yourselves in Baixa — flat, central, lifts nearby. Day 1: tram 28 seated tour, riverside at Belém, pastéis. Day 2: Oceanário, flat promenade. Day 3: LX Factory by taxi, evening fado with dinner seated. Day 4: market, slow morning, airport by taxi. November is 17–20°C, pack a rain jacket. Full timings in a list?
Mon: pasta, sauce on the side. Tue: tray-bake chicken and potatoes. Wed: fried rice using Monday's extra veg. Thu: bean quesadillas, fillings separate. Long documents, contract clauses, two options you keep going back and forth on.
"Reasonable period" is deliberately vague, but courts in most countries read it as a few weeks, not months. After three months you are on firm ground: send a written demand with a 14-day deadline, referencing the inspection date. If that fails, a small-claims filing usually costs little and rarely needs a lawyer. This is general information, not legal advice — for a dispute, a tenants' association is the right next stop.
On your mileage, the repair is likely the cheaper three-year path: €1,800 plus usual upkeep beats a €9,000 outlay unless the gearbox failure signals wider wear. The deciding question is the car's overall condition — one independent inspection (about €100) settles it. If two or more major systems are near end of life, sell. Want the cost table worked through?

I locked myself out in another city, and he drove 200 kilometres on a weeknight — then pretended he was "in the area anyway". That is the whole of him: shows up, downplays it. [Close] Anna, you are marrying the man who shows up. Martin, you married way up. Raise your glasses.
For six years I was the person a café ran on: rosters for eleven staff, supplier orders, the till, the bookings, and the plumber when needed. I have not held an office title before, so I won't pretend otherwise — but the job you describe, keeping many small things moving at once without dropping any, is the job I have been doing daily. 06 — Language
Language
Translating, checking tone, writing in your second language without sounding like a form letter.
It is not rude, but "I expect" reads cold in English and may make him defensive. Same firmness, warmer phrasing: "The heater is still not fixed, and with the weather turning I need it repaired this week. Please confirm a day and time." Firm, specific, asks for something concrete. Want it translated into German as well, in case he answers faster in it?
"Auguri, Anna. Ti auguro un anno sereno, con buona salute e tante giornate come quelle d'estate in giardino. Un abbraccio, Marco." Translation: Happy birthday, Anna. I wish you a calm year, good health, and many days like the summer ones in the garden. A hug, Marco. Warm, plain, nothing over the top.
07 — Research
